Greens Support Civil Unions
ACT Greens MLA Deb Foskey will speak at the civil unions rally in Civic Square, 1:00pm Saturday Feb 2.
“The Stanhope Government has repeated its commitment to a civil unions scheme in the media this week. But it hasn’t made it clear when the Bill will be debated” Dr Foskey said today.
"I know how important the ceremonial aspect of the proposed civil partnerships scheme is to many same-sex couples in Canberra. So I am very pleased that Chief Minister Stanhope and the Attorney General are standing by it.”
“But that will only mean something real to same-sex couples in the community once the legislation has been passed.”
“That is why I am calling on the ACT Government to schedule the Bill for debate in the next few months” Dr Foskey said.
